Make traveling easy by tucking all of your essential items into one space. Turns out, an mint tin is the perfect size for this kind of thing, and it fits compactly into your jacket pocket for easy access when you’re stuck 3 deep in that window seat on that dreaded red eye.
The list of travel-sized items you can fit into an mint tin is nearly endless, but including those items shown above, here are some ideas for you:
- Mirror
- mp3 player
- Ear buds
- Ear plugs (zzz)
- Pain reliever
- Hand sanitizer
- Eye drops (for red eye on your red eye)
- Gum (be friendly with fresh breath – and share with your neighbors!)
- Lip gloss
- Sunscreen
- Bandages
- Small sewing kit
- Stain stick, or as shown, a travel-sized pack of detergent that you can use in your hotel sink
- Small tube of Super Glue
- Hand lotion
- Mini bottle of clear nail polish (Ever have a tear in your tights on a business trip?)
- USB drive
Step 1
First, spray paint your tin however you wish. When the base color is dry, top it with a clear glossy top coat to help prevent scratching and chipping, assuming that like me, this is going to end up in the bottom of your purse or backpack during your travels.
Step 2
For vanity and convenience, glue a small mirror to the inside top cover of the tin. Just because you know that the guy in the seat next to you isn’t going to bother to tell you if you have lettuce in your teeth.
Hot glue will work well, as would a heavy-duty adhesive like E-6000 (it just takes a little bit longer to dry).
Step 3
Fill it with your most needed travel items! Happy packing!
